Tracking Success: Kairanga School's Progress with Structured Literacy

For a number of years, Kairanga School have been engaged with Liz Kane's work and Structured Literacy.

This is especially strong in the Junior Team, where our teachers have reported a significant shift and the idea that "student's can't fall between the gaps".

We are looking forward to tracking the first 'batch' of students as they move through the school to identify trends and patterns.

In 2023, staff are working with Dr Chris Braid in relation to literacy. The foci of this piece of work relates to a structured literacy approach, identifying what effective literacy pedagogy looks like and creating a shared progression/understanding of what learning looks like at each year group.

This work has begun in Term 2 of 2023 so plenty of learning remains ahead of us.
