Our journey to shape our Marautanga-ā-kura began in 2009.
Over many years we have revised and re-created a metaphor that enables tamariki and their whānau, Kaiako and Board of Trustee members to connect to our local curriculum. This curriculum not only captures the learning and behaviour goals of our school, cultural values and aspirations of our community but links to the different perspectives of the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa.
It also gives genuine effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Our Marautanga-ā-kura takes its shape from mana whenua, the land that connects us to local iwi Rangitane. It also captures korero for the major rivers that flow from and through the surrounding mountain ranges Ruahine and Tararua to the sea.
Developing teaching and learning pathways to embed our Marautanga-ā-kura are helping us to continually move forward with a sense of urgency and belief that we can make a difference.
